My very first solo exhibition has closed! What a great experience!
Madam Yuei’s sister brought over some persimmon leaf sushi on the last day. Two flavours - salmon or mackerel. I love any sushi that’s been squeezed into rectangles.
Playing around with the light on my PET plastic pieces. They look a bit mysterious, like radiolarian…….
New work currently on show until August 6 at Gallery Yuei in Osaka.
This was my first attempt at laser cutting and although getting to this stage was a small adventure, one laser cutting company in Higashi-Osaka was game enough to take this project on board and the results are gorgeous. Even though I was happy with how the series turned out, I was unsure at first whether anyone will take notice of these but they proved to be very popular in the gallery and Yuei was able to sell a few pieces. This felt like a collaboration between myself and the tradesman and I am very grateful for all his effort. Thank you!
New work for my solo exhibition “Le Jardin de la Mer”, now showing at Gallery Yuei (until August 6) in Osaka. This series uses baroque South Sea Pearls with silver crowns mounted on top. Each are one-off pieces due to each crown being specifically fitted to stone’s unique and naturally-occuring shape. For more, please go the the Jewellery section of this website.
Thank you to my beautiful models Mitsuko and Michiyo, you look gorgeous!
